Celebrating the staff and employees of Sunbury Community Hospital & Outpatient Center, the facility held its annual Employee Appreciation and Service Awards Banquet in March to recognize the many contributions and dedicated work the staff provides to the region.
The hospital, which is celebrating its 120th year anniversary in 2015, honored employees with special awards and recognized years of service to the facility.
The night was capped with recognition of the Employee of the Year, which was awarded to Audrey Ditty, of Surgical Services.
Ditty, who has worked at the hospital for seven years, was voted by the hospital staff for the honor. She previously was awarded the Employee of the Month honors in September 2014.
Along with the announcement of Employee of the Year, was the recognition of the Clinical and Non-Clinical Managers of the Year. Lynn Taggart, Director of Emergency Services and Case Management, was honored as the Clinical Manager of the year. David Wallace, Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance, was voted Non-Clinical Manager of the Year.
The hospital also awarded four individuals with awards for going above and beyond their normal duties.
Brenda Toter, of Community Care Clinic, was awarded the People Award, which highlights an employee’s willingness to work as part of the team and help co-workers however needed.
Mildred Smith, of Laboratory Services, received the Positive Image/Growth Award. This award recognizes a hospital employee that promotes the facility and its services, is enthusiastic in their job and participates in community events.
Sharon London, Nurse House Supervisor, was recognized with the Commitment to Quality and Safety Award. The award is given to an employee that focuses on safety with every task they do, and encourages others to do the same.
Denise Erich, Acute Care Nurse, received the Service Excellence Award. This recognition is awarded based on positive comments left by patients after their care in the facility.
“Our employees are the heart and soul of Sunbury Community Hospital. This group perfectly displays the caring nature of our facility as they are dedicated each and every day to providing our patients with quality and compassionate care,” said Jeff Hunt, hospital CEO.
Also during the banquet, employees reaching service milestones were recognized.
Recognized for five years of service were: Tina DeFacis, Denise Erich, Caroline Farr, Mary Forry, A. Jean Lehman, Stacey Noss, James Pachucki and Maureen Wade.
Celebrating 10 years of service at the hospital were: Talia Beatty, Amanda Bonilla, Donna Brown, Tammy Deitrich-Webb, Tomas Mundo, Jennifer Sanchez and Donald Turner.
John Kogut and Connie Snyder were honored for 15 years of service. Kathy Tarasewicz was recognized for 25 years of service.
Sharon Loftus and Joan Wasilewski celebrated 30 years working for the hospital. Elaine Dietrich was recognized for 35 years of service. For 40 years of service, Teresa Feger was honored.
And lastly, to a standing ovation, Lois Stettler was honored for 50 years of service.
“Our hospital has made a difference in this region for the last 120 years because of our people. Without this group, and the entire hospital staff, our hospital would not make the difference it does,” Hunt said. “We thank each and every one of our employees for what they do each and every day for the betterment of our community.”
Sunbury Community Hospital has served the Greater Susquehanna Valley region for 120 years. Services provided by the hospital include: 24/7 emergency care, orthopedics, physical therapy and cardiac rehabilitation, among others.
