The Behavioral Health Unit at Sunbury Community Hospital is an acute short-term program for individuals 18-65 years of age in need of a secure, therapeutic environment.  The unit can also admit patients 65 years and older who are able to actively participate in the therapy program.

Staff on the unit are trained to treat major psychiatric disorders such as bi-polar disorder, depression, anxiety, psychoses, and schizophrenia.  The program is designed to quickly return patients to their optimal level of functioning outside the hospital through an intense, structured, physician supervised program that coordinates seamlessly with the patient’s medical care.
