Sunbury Community Hospital Sets New Guidelines for Visitors

As part of its ongoing efforts to limit the spread of infections, Sunbury Community Hospital today issued new guidelines for visitors to the facility.

Effective immediately:

  • Visitors younger than 12-years-old are not allowed to visit patients in the hospital.
  • Visitors who have a cough, fever and/or other respiratory illness are asked not to visit the hospital at this time.

“We understand that these changes may present an inconvenience for some of our visitors,” said Jeff Hunt, chief executive officer.  “As caregivers, however, it’s our responsibility to protect our patients and advocate for their safety while they’re in our care.”

Mr. Hunt further emphasized that visitors can help prevent the spread of infection by washing their hands or utilizing hand sanitizer before visiting patients in the hospital.  Respiratory etiquette stations are placed at the hospital main entrance and the emergency room entrance.  These stations are equipped with hand sanitizer, masks, tissues, and educational information.  Additionally, hand sanitizer stations are placed throughout the facility.
