LUNCH AND LEARN SESSION OFFERED FOR SENIOR CIRCLE
Billie Jo Houtz, RN, Infection Control Practitioner at Sunbury Community Hospital recently provided a presentation on Influenza to members of the Sunbury Community Hospital chapter of Senior Circle.
Every year in the United States, an average of 5-20% of the population get the flu; more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications.
Mrs. Houtz provided some examples of actions that can be taken to protect against the flu: 1. Get a flu vaccine; 2. Avoid close contact with those who are sick; 3. Stay home when sick; 4. Use proper cough etiquette; 5. Use good hand hygiene—wash hands properly and thoroughly.
Senior Circle is a national non-profit organization that is committed to enriching the lives of adults age 50 and older.
