PATIENT CHOICE AWARD RECIPIENT NAMED AT SUNBURY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
When Sunbury Community Hospital asked former patients to nominate exceptional nurses who exceeded expectations, the community responded with wonderful stories of dedication and compassionate care.
The Patient Choice Award recognizes the quality care, comfort and compassion offered by the nurses at Sunbury Community Hospital, and honors one nurse in particular. As part of National Nurse’s Week, Holly Comfort, RN, was announced as the Patient Choice Award Winner for 2009.
Sunbury Community Hospital asks former patients to spotlight an exceptional nurse because patients are the ones directly impacted by outstanding care.
“Recognition from a patient is the top honor a nurse can receive,” says Rosemary Proctor, Chief Nursing Officer for Sunbury Community Hospital. “The patients see the little things that matter so much on a very personal level.”
The nomination form described Holly as, “…a very special nurse…She was very kind, compassionate and knowledgeable.” The patient went on to add, “It is never a good thing to be a patient in the hospital, but having nurses such as Holly care for you, makes the stay so much more enjoyable. She is certainly an asset to Sunbury Community Hospital and certainly deserves to be recognized for her talents and "going the extra mile for her patients.”
